The Doctrine of the Perfect Stranger

Our entire faith - which is not a religion, but a doctrine (a pattern of living), is based on the example of Jesus Christ - which is not "Christianity" per se, but a deeper involvement in Jesus' life and message, a deliberate effort to interpret the pattern of his life, the things he did, and how, and why.

You see, Jesus Christ was "The Perfect Stranger".  Jesus did not seek to convince or convert, he never built a building, he never appointed a priest.  They called him "Rabbi" - which is an honorific that recognized his scholarship, and his lifelong commitment to teach and to learn.

The Perfect Stranger.

Parables (examples) are easier to understand than words.  Please take a moment to watch this:

This wonderful young woman, Leigh Clark, is obviously what we would call a fully realized apostle of Jesus, what a Hindu would call a "Mahatma" (great soul) or what the Buddha would have recognized as someone who like him, was at one with the moment, and thus the universe.

All of these Saviors, throughout human history, in all faiths, has lived in a certain way.  They were all Perfect Strangers.  If Jesus saw someone hurting or in need, he stopped and helped.  He didn't know these people - had never met them, yet he fed them, healed them and comforted their anxieties.  That is the Perfect Stranger, not seeking to convince or convert, but instead constantly, casually, and without exception meeting people, taking time to be with them, and speaking truth with kindness and compassion.  That method of living, Jesus' method - this simple pattern of life, we believe is the true message and meaning of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

I have a Dream
It is also identical to the life patterns of countless other Saviors and founders of faiths.  I have learned about Buddha, Mohammed, Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Albert Schweitzer, Mother Theresa - and hundreds of others.  They were all the same, and they all spread the same message of hope to the world.

Think of your own life, your beloved Mother, your favorite teachers.  The day you were born you didn't know your blessed Mother, and do you remember walking into that classroom that first time, with pencils in your box and new shoes on your feet?  They were your Perfect Strangers.

You can be one too.

We are the New Hope Faith.  We are not a "church" in the traditional sense.  That is why we welcome, embrace and will gladly help you nurture whatever faith you already have.

We do not teach people how to pray or worship.  That is a personal choice and we claim no special knowledge or authority.

What we do know however - is the path.

Everyone seeks their path.  The arc of their existence - and everyone Knows in their Heart that within their body beats the heart of greatness.  Each person has a spark of God, and every so often they get a glimpse of that glory, that incredible potential...  each person does this.

We have spent a lifetime studying and learning about faith - all faiths, and each faith has a person (in our case, in the English language, we grew up learning about Jesus), and all of those savior people did one thing in common.

They lived in a certain way, and they were surrounded by miracles.

John H. and Mister Carl, Indiana, 1977
All of them, especially Jesus, then passed on that ability to anyone who would care to follow that same path.  All are called to be prophets, priests and Kings, all are called to become wise and work miracles.

We can show you how to do that - we can show you how to find that true path - Your true Path.  We can help you find that, and it will change your life.
